First off, I had never seen a Canadian coin so old show up in my change before, nevermind George here... It feels much heavier and thicker than an American Penny.

I do not know the specifications for the US 1 cent coin, but here what your coins is.

Weight: 3.24 grams
Composition: 98% copper, .5% tin, 1.5% zinc
Diameter: 19.05mm
Edge: Plain
Die Axes: Medal Orientation (both up)
Mintage: 60,444,992

1937-1942 composition was 95.5% copper, 3% tin, 1.5% zinc
1942-1952 are as above.
