Thank you SoccerDad. There are a few marks and scratches that I don't like, and they show up especially well in the photo. But the wear is really minimal. I studied the photograde PCGS photos, and AU53 showed considerably more wear around the ear.

Looks to have possibly been dipped, but still has very decent eye appeal even with a few marks. A nice addition to your collection.

Thank you ACE,

If it were dipped, it was pre 1970, when I acquired it. What makes you think it was dipped? This is one that I have considered sending to a grader. Wouldn't want to waste my $$ and time!

Hi Jon,
I only thought there was a chance it was dipped in the past, since in the photo it looks very bright white, particularly the reverse. It could very well be just the lighting - one of the hazards of grading coins from pictures. It would still be slabable (is that a word?) even with a light, long ago dipping. The scratches and marks do not look so bad either.

AU-55 doesn't seem to far off, only a few scratches here and there. Is that a die chip in the 'E' in Liberty?

it almost looks like a weak strike... if so you might have hit it right on the button...
