The dot is just below the 7 in the date.(Almost touching the 7 at its' lower point)I don't have one myself to show a picture, but I'm sure someone else on the forum does.
Also check the position of the 1947 maple leaf variety.(Low maple leaf-far maple leaf-etc.)
check the dates also.(Bold/thin date)
I really don't know how many varieties there are for the 1947's.
Happy hunting & all the best

!947 M.L. was minted for 1948.The 1948 dies weren't ready yet. There was a need for coinage of all denominations. When the 1948 coins were struck, the mintage numbers for all coins was low.(Hence all 1947M.L. coins were struck for 1948)

thanks I am thinking a 37 to present set of Canadian nickles may be much harder than
the US nickles

Early in 1948 India became independent from England. As a result the dies had to be changed for the 1948 coins. It would take time so the mint put a maple leaf on the coins to show that they were actually made in 1948. I believe the coins with the dot were also minted in 1948. The complete set of Canadian nickels would be very hard as the 1955 No Shoulder Fold to date only have two known. There may be a few more around that have not been certified. Also the 1951 High Relief is also hard to get.

some believe the dot was caused from die pitting(mint error).Although it is recognized as a variety.
I believe it is an error and not an intentional dot put there.
Same as the '47 dot quarter.(error)
You might also note, there are no dot cents, dimes or halves for 1947,just the nickel, quarter and silver dollar.
