Hi !

It's about the same coin that last time but I take new scan, I find the trick to make the picture bigger. !

I will post all picture in the same post but try to be clear on wich picture you talk about please.

The first one it's two 1965, I just want to know if they are pointed or blunt "5"

THe second it's a 1982, check the side just on the left of the date, it's strange ! Someone already talk to me about light clip but I don't know more...

The third one is a 1985, at least the "8" and "5" of the date look strange, it can be necessary to lod the picture and make a zook with a software to see it more clearly, it look like "double" in some area. In same time I just want to be sure that it's a blunt ?

The 4th one it's a 1999 with strange mark on side.... it is mint damage or post damage ?

1. The 1965 is a blunt 5.
2. It is possible that this coin has a very minor clip. I can not be sure with the picture provided. It may be just that the coin took a hit to the edge of the coin causing it to distort a bit.
3. The 1985 is a blunt 5. A little hard to tell if there is any doubling on the date where you indicated. MAybe some minor MD.
4. Post mint damage. looks like it clamped/pinched with something.

Here is a picture of a 1965 Pointed 5 that I have found. Notice the difference in the angle compared to the one in your picture. When you find one you will be able to notice a drastic difference with coin in hand. Happy hunting.

I agree with all the previous comments.

I have always had difficulty with the 1965's. Here are pictures of mine, which I purchased graded to be sure of their types. The pointed and blunt designation is not the only detail to consider with these coins. You must also know the size of the beads to determine the actual type and value of the coin. This is determined by where the A on the obverse points to in regard to the bead location.

Blunt

I see some that are not quite A's sharp and some that are very pointed like cladhunters... Why? Are they considered pointed?
