I received this one in a collection several months ago. I'm not a big fan of the harsh cleaning, but it has decent details. Care to grade? Also, I just noticed something a little odd about this coin other than the cleaning. Does anyone else see it?

Are you talking about the position of the Eagle's tail feathers? Normally they're pointing above the "U".

I'm not very good with erros or varieties; but I think this coin was possibly struck off center on the obverse? The right rim is thick and actually doubled(note the line on the rim above "RTY"). The rim is much thinner on the left side. This makes the obverse look lopsided in hand. The reverse rim on the other hand is even all the way around. Maybe this is common, but this is the first slq I've owned that has this effect.

Carmykle, I think you're thinking of Type II's because in a Type II under the eagle would be the 3 stars, and that would raise up the entire eagle.

Johnny,
When the dies are not perfectly lined up, it is called a misaligned die error. Yours is not far enough misaligned to give it a premium value, but it certainly does add to the interest of the piece!

Thank you Mike! Yeah, a misaligned die error must be what I am seeing. Is this different from "struck off center" due to the fact that it is only off on one side?
