I think its Austrian?
Same image and writing on both sides.

It's a cast novelty medallion in the style of a silver 1/4 florin from Austria.

How old would you say it is? and is it junk?

It looks to be from around the same period as the actual coins, since items like this are typically based on the current circulating coinage. As for being junk, that depends on what you mean by junk. It's probably worth a couple of dollars to someone as a curious item, but that would be about it. It's a limited market for stuff like this, and the ones that sell well are done in a higher quality and/or made of silver.

I just thought junk - as a fake worthless piece! so would you say items like this are common? Thank you for your help though!

Oh yes, they are pretty common types of items. This is especially true when speaking of medals. You may have a handful of official, high quality medals for a particular event, but hundreds of more crude privately made pieces which the "common" people could afford. Not as common with such items being designed after coins though.

It would not really be a fake, since it's not trying to fool anyone into accepting it as a genuine coin. Just an antique novelty piece.
