1974 Washington Quarter , Has Anybody Seen A Rim Like That ?

i found this 1974 Washington quarter that have a rim with sanduich looking !
another odd think about this coin is the fact the cooper color layer is between 2 layers o nickel or whatever they are made , of such a odd looking rim ! looks like the coin is a broadstrike only in the sides whats not real because is the same size of others quarters .

I would assume it's been swimming in acid. The acid has attacked the copper core more than the cupronickel cladding.

If was acid wouldnt have the rim lines and they are there in perfect symmetry With the sides layers proven that the coin was made the way it is . I'm trying to start taking pics with the camera stand the phone so in the future I ll post better pics , it such a odd !

I agree with Sap, acid had eaten away at the copper core which reacts more rapidly than the nickel cladding. The reeding is still present because the acid acts in an even manner- the dimensions will slowly shrink but the details will be retained instead of dissolving away.

Is the same visual effect on this dime , if is acid what caused it on the dime so is acid the same on the quarter !
