Hello, and welcome!
Here's the page on silver threepence. The fineness of silver runs across the grid in red. All later threepence were bronze.
And here's the page about sixpence. I caught the moment when there's the transition from silver to Cu-Ni.

Thanks so much!
Looks like my 5$ garage score was a good deal

50% silver 1928, 1935, 1942, 1944, and 1946 Six Pence
92.5% silver 1867, 1870,1890,1909,1913(x2),1916(x2),1917 (x2) three pence
modified silver (maybe 50%?) 1931,1933,1936 three pence
and a 1836 four pence

thanks for the help
now I have a bunch of half pennies and pennies to go through

Indeed a nice pick-up for $5!
In the table it talks about the redesigned effigy, or king's image, as well as the reverse, the silver content switched to 50% in 1920.
