Hello all, first post here though been lurking for a while. Anyway, I just acquired this coin and noticed it's not listed in the Krause catalog (unless I'm blind). My guess is that it's gold-plated sterling silver, but I'm not sure. Any info on this coin is greatly appreciated (mintage, value, km#, etc.). Thanks

Hello, vb, and welcome!

My Krause doesn't have it either, the only Golden Jubilee $10 of 2003 it list is the one with the former Royal Yacht, "Gothic".
Here's the page of the catalog that I found online, it has (or doesn't have) the same thing. By the way I have no idea what a pair of climbers would have to do with the Jubilee!?

Then I checked the Pobjoy mint site for what they minted for BVI. They don't have any Jubilee coins. I don't know who minted those.

So, with all that, vb, I don't believe your coin exists!

Interesting, thanks for the answer. It must be Pobjoy Mint because it has the PM mint mark. The plot thickens...

Usually I know what I'm buying, but I just couldn't pass this one up for $12 (barely more than face value).

I don't know why they would do that, the mint I mean. If you keep track of previous issues then you should record all, not just a random selection! I checked if they had BVI Golden Jubilee in the "For Sale" section but didn't find anything older than 2007.

Good luck with your quest. And the price was great!

Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing were the first men to conquer Mount Everest and news of their success arrived in the UK on the day of the Coronation in 1953, hence the reason for the design.
