I have in my possesion a brilliant uncirculated 1964 and 1938 Jefferson nickels that I found from roll searching.

Now they both have full or at least mostly full steps, and upon magnification the legends are smooth and crisp.

Both of them however show little to no mirrorlike qualities except for on small areas bordering the lettering.

I know it's most likely these are just well-struck business pieces, but is there any way that exposure to air and moisture has dulled the finish on the coins? Also are there any telltale signs in the design that would indicate they were struck on proof dies? Thanks

I'd give pictures, but I'm afraid any that I could produce would be of very poor quality.

Whatd do the rims look like? Proofs should have sharp squared rims while business strike rims will be more rounded.

I have a 1964 D I found that looked almost proof like, but they didn't make 64-D proofs, so I just chalked it up to being a really nice 64-D.

1964 and 64-D being the most produced Jefferson nickels ever, I'm always finding them, but this one just looked amazing.

Sometimes the finish can get a little "cloudy" from the environmental exposure and from being in rolls...
