Here's one for all to grade. It's a GSA Carson City Morgan. It's been graded by NGC... and I agree with the grade, and disagree a bit. But the Grading Services don't ALWAYS get it right... I will post the graded coin on Monday, so quick (like a bunny) get your grades in before then... Good Luck... Have Fun

I'll guess 63. It could go 64 but would not be a strong 64. Strike appears average as does eye appeal.

MS64, but then are those marks (bag rash) on the cheek and throat or just the way the light gathers.

I'm gonna break from the pack. I think NGC gave it MS65. Very nice looking Morgan!

OK.. Looks like everyone did well... MS-65... I agree with the grade, just a little bit more strike on the hair would have moved it to MS66.

No way I'd give that little hair detail + nicks a 65. Then again, the purpose of slobbing is to make coins easy to sell.
Interesting trivial: When the GSA dollars were sorted for sale, the nice white ones went in the $30 pile, and any with tarnish were $15 rejects in a different color packaging.
By today's standards, many of the cheapies carry a huge premium for color.

NICE!
Grading from pictures is tricky, especially on the higher grade coins. I'm sure this coin looks better in hand and exhibits strong luster....two key things in grading.

Beauty. Just lately I have seen some very nice Morgans come to the market. Old hoarders dying and their collections becoming available. Many more will appear soon. We all will have a shot if we have the resources. Enjoy your prize.

What is the GSA hoard>?
GSA means General Services Administration GSA Hoard were coins from the vaults of United States Treasury. They were sold in a series of 8 action sales from 1972 to 1980 when where held two more additional sales. Many of them were CC uncirculated Dollars. this coin is a beauty. How much you pay for it ?
