Poll Question
A similar Poll was taken in the US coin section 5 years ago. About 17% were females.

So now the question is: are Canadian coin collectors following the same ratio? Just curious.... 17% seems a bit high for what I recall at coin shows back in Canada.

Poll Choices
 Male 50 or over
 Male 30 or over
 Male under 30
 Female 50 or over
 Female 30 or over
 Female under 30

We see a clear trend developing here. And that is consistent with what I remember when I lived in Canada.

Very few females care about collecting coins.

You've got no replies because this poll is in the wrong section,NCLT fans know they're not coin collectors.

It's a poll in case you haven't noticed, DBM. I don't expect any replies....

I'm a female over 50 so voted that one. Not sure if that's what you mean us to do? Just select our gender and age? I haven't a clue who is into collecting coins, percentage wise, but I do clearly notice there are WAY MORE males in forums and sites online and writing books about coins collecting, both Canada and US.

Maybe a general trend for women and collectibles leans towards traditionally female areas like collectible jewelry, buttons, fashion, dolls etc, art, crafts, antiques.

I, personally, like it all and especially lean towards anything related to "past" ... coins fit a lot of areas of interest for me

Guess I should have asked for NCLT collectors then. "wrong forum", "real collectors" - you guys are cracking me up...

Hi Dottir,

Well, my wife asked about it the other day, and I got curious too so I searched and found that CCF had a poll taken 5 years ago and 17% were females. So I figured this was a bit high personally, but my wife thought it was totally off.

Anyway, I used a similar gender/age for the poll here to get a comparison with the US.

It's interesting, up to this day I never thought about gender when discussing coins. I suppose it may matter.
