I think that we should come up with something on the forum to celebrate Coin Week. Does anyone have any ideas? We could take up a collection for the ANA Educational program or we could do something more internal if everyone wants to. Put on your thinking caps! Let's see what we can come up with.

We could have a fourm wide contest.
As many people, on the forum, as possible donate something to the "Coin Week Drawing". Everyone's name goes in the hat and the winner takes all.

What if we took both ideas and sponsored a forum-wide contest with all of the members donating towards an ANA membership for the winner?

Howdy Crew!!! What is the current cost of a 1 yr. membership? What about other prizes for those that are already ANA members? (next dues paid for?) I do like the idea of the free membership as one of the prizes. Could you run the logistics by the group of how collecting for that prize would be managed? For even more fun do both as you say and make the ANA membership the "Grand prize"! Then perhaps a second and third prize(or 4th, 5th, and so on depending on the response) made up of the donated items. I would be happy to donate a prize and/or contribute part of the membership cost as well. Mike

Mike: Regular membership $36 Seniors is $31 YN's, now referred to as Juniors, is $20. If someone is already a member there is the ANA's correspondence courses or stuff from their store like a loupe or refernce book. Either way it all helps the ANA and a coin collector at the same time.

I will throw in a "goodie". I am sure that I have something lying around that one member will like.

I would support supporting a youth or everyone throwing in a coin, or making a donation, but for us darksiders, what would I do with an ANA membership.

That's a good point. We need something that would benefit everyone. We could make it a membership in either the ANA, ANS, or whatever numismatic national organization would apply to the winner.

We could also use the "any solider" idea that people have often used to send letters to troops, only apply it to a YN. We could simply collect what people are willing to donate and let the ANA select a YN member whose membership will be renewed. Anything left over the YN may spend in the ANA's book store. Or we can have the ANA give a book store credit for the amount we donate to the very next YN membership they receive. Or they can give a bookstore credit to the last YN that wrote an article or letter to the Numismatist.
