Good buy for $30? I was thrilled to fill this hole in my collection for only $30 but is this coin worth it? Opinions on grade?

I would say AG-3 to G-4. 30 is a fair price to fill a hole. Now see what kind of coin you can get for the hole 6 years earlier than this coin

IMO I'd spend more and go for better, but with the scratches on the obverse, best grade is AG-3.
Did you go to the local show today?

Yes mac that's where this and the 32-D in my other post came from. Also bought three Flying Eagle cents and some IHC's to fill some holes in my IHC album. Did you make it there today?

Definitely AG-3 in my book, but $30 is a good pick up I guess.

Couldn't make it, will have to be next month. I bought a few things off ebay that keep me away.

AG3 and a cheap price for a tough coin.

Not bad, although your Washington quarter was a far better score!

I'm a bit on the pessimistic side on this one. Due to the scratches, I'd have passed on that one. Yes it will fill a slot in your Album but might make you mad everytime you see it. All depends on the grades of the coins next to it. By that I mean many of the coins right before and after that one could look great and that one might make them look worse. Like I said, just a pessimistic point of view.

Another vote for AG here. The price wasn't bad, but I concur with macmercury; in effect, spending more for a solid good or better coin. This all speaks to personal goals with regard to your collection. If your goal was simply to fill that hole in the date set, it would be challenging to find a 1921-D that's much cheaper. In time, you may well upgrade, and the 1921-D, despite its condition, is probably a decent investment.

That is a fair price for an ag3. Someday you'll want to upgrade to one like this.
