Bought some Buffaloes with dates raised using acid. Just checked on them and some of the dates are not visible. Is there a way to bring the dates back?

How long did you soak them for? I would just buy the nikadate if you're going to experiment like that. I may take a long time with other solutions

Some years are easier to recover than others. Seems that the 1916 are the best thus far.

You said you bought them with tho dates already raised. Appears the person that did it was only doing it for the possibility of a rare one. How much did you pay for those? Rather than payimg more for something that may or may not work, try a little Vinegar on the dates. The reason you probably got them is the seller already realized they weren't worth the cost of attempting to bring back the dates. Or he failed and those coins may now be ruined.

I tried the vinegar did not raise the dates. I bought two Whitman #9008 that were complete. At that time the seller said that the dates had been raised. I looked at each folder and the coins were filler AG-3 coins but all had the date visible. Now about a year later some of the dates are gone others very faint even with a loupe. I had hope that they could be salvaged. Thanks for your replies.
Rest in Peace

I don't see how a acid-dated coin could be considered any higher than a filler.

That's all they really are. My granddaughters are interested in pennies now and wanted to trade them at our monthly coin swap meet. With out the dates it hard to verify this is a complete set.
