This just ruined my day, just went to the bank and asked for half dollars and lady pulls out three rolls and I asked did they have any more as the wrappers looked very old and had writing on them. Had 9 other rolls and when I got home I checked the 3 old rolls.

roll one has written on it 1960-1966
roll 2 has written 1923-1940
roll 3 has written on it just silver halve

all 12 rolls had no silver!! I have gotten two rolls of walking liberty's from this bank in October so I was happy as heck to see that written on the rolls and thought I hit big. They def are checking the halves for silver or someone did that to mess with me geez. Wouldnt of minded 600+ in silver today

There all going back to my dump bank tomorrow

Sorry to hear Bryan. Would've been so excited to see the old rolls especially with those words on it. Sounds like they took them out since it was probably obvious what was in the roll. I find/hear most tellers and banks know about CRH so it wouldn't surprise me. Keep at it and better luck next time.

I hear ya brother. I am now down to two banks that I can rely on the tellers not searching them. It was good for a while, but as word spread and more people got into searching halves the tellers wised up or were told about what could be found in them. There are still some who only look for pre 1965, they do not know about the 40% silver and I am not going to tell them.

Yes, most people do not know about the 40%'s.

As the price of silver goes up so goes the tellers' IQs.

I agree, even in stores I see more and more people looking at change when you hand it to them... Soon the days of circulation silver will be over...

That's definitely a big bummer, but the tellers do have a right to it if they find it. Just one of the perks of the job I guess.

Deja Vu! Just like the late 1970s! I remember the 40% not being well known, I was roll hunting in high school, when silver peaked at $40+ oz.
It only takes one person to educate a line of tellers. I've seen it happen time and again when at the banks.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...
Roll hunting since '77
Dirt fishing since '72
