1987-P Dime - Looks Copper In Color

mdh157 Pillar of the Community United States 952 Posts	Posted 02/28/2011 8:44 pm I got a 1987 diem in change the other daY.....has a light copper color to it and its all copper on the side, with no silver coloring whatsoever showing. It's in au condition. Any idea what could have happened to it? Report this Post to the Staff

bmanofnbc Pillar of the Community United States 1424 Posts	Posted 02/28/2011 9:46 pm it may have been buried, I find clad coins when I go metal detecting and most of them are discolored and the color depends on where they were buried and how long. It could have also been in a tumbler with some copper cents. Report this Post to the Staff

I was def not soemthing that was buried, etc....I metal detect as well and I am used to seeing what the mineralization does to them. It is perfectly clean, just discolored - and very evenly.
