And if you do,up to what limit?
I explain myself.
Notevery sellerisan expert on every area where he sells coins and Krause doesn't mention everything.
So when someone sells lots, you can check if there is nothing special in those lots.
Most of the time the pictures do not allow you to be sure.
In this case I was not sure but believe the top left coin may have a closed 9 in the year.
So I paid these coins a little more expensive than I would normally have.
I do not yet hold them in hands so I cannot be sure.
Here's the picture for you to decide.

maudry Yes I do. But I stick to things I know.

I do this quite often with overdate Mexican 8Rs. What I have learned is that there are some sellers on ebay who know a lot about lighting effects and who can make a dirt spot or a ding look like an overdate. So now I usually check to see what the person sells and of course I avoid sellers who are tricky.

When I look at the coin in the upper right corner I do see what I believe is a reflection of a closed loop 9.

Let us know what it is.

Good luck Maudry! I hope you scored! Yes, I also take many chances on ebay and sometimes my hunches and gut feelings have paid big time just like swamperbob says. I scored a wonderful Mexican 8R overdate previously just by taking a chance but one word of caution sometimes I have hesitated or held off on a certain coin and I have regretted it then again there has also been cases where I go for a coin and get skunked! :)

It's always a rush though and always fun!

I will let you know when I hold the coins in hands.
I slightly overpaid for what they were advertised, even with the really high grade 1950 coin.
But that's part of the fun on ebay: searching for the extra and the thrill waiting for the result.
So far, I have not been too unlucky with my bets, but I did also buy some scrap metal.

Best of luck! I have many 5 Francs(all open 9's though) but all the coins in your picture are definitely of a better grade than what I have...

Got the coins earlier this week.
Nice grades, maybe one or two improvements, but no closed 9 where it should have been.
Next time I may be lucky again.
