I joined NGC back in September and decided to use their services since I paid. I recently purchased a 1950d Jefferson nickel. I graded it as MS-67, but want to add it to my slabbed modern key date collection. The other coin is a 1956 Proof Franklin, Type 1. My nana gave me a 1956 proof set years back and I recently looked at it again and found that the franklin was the rarer type 1. I'm hoping for a Pf-67 grade on it, but will see what happens.

On a side note, these are the last coins I am planning on submitting to NGC, as I do not plan on renewing my membership with NGC. Not only is it fairly expensive to join and thus be able to submit personally, but the service prices have gone up again. I also had a significant difference of opinion as to a coin I had graded that came back as "details." I have gotten much better at grading coin I am specializing in, FEs and IHCs, and am improving my overall grading skills. The slabs are nice, but I'm realizing they are just another opinion and IMO both PCGS and NGC are focusing more on marketing and profit then grading accurately and providing a useful and reachable service. Generally, I feel they are catering more to the market and dealers than the common coin collector/hobbyist. If I do submit again, it will probably be to ANACS as I like the fact they have become more conservative, though I do think they are details happy.

Well, I have the results, though not the coins yet. The 1956 Type I Franklin Proof graded at Pf-66. I graded it as Pf-67, so I guess I was close, but a little overly optimistic. I'm still fairly happy with it as I got it from a proof set my Nana gave me and I later notice it was the rarer Type 1.

As for the 1950d Jefferson nickel, it graded at MS-66. Again I graded it as MS-67, although you guys on the boards here got the grade spot on. I am still relatively pleased as I cherry picked it from ebay raw. I will post pics when I receive the coins.

How were you only able to submit 2 coins, isn't there a 5 coin minimum?

I used NGC's early bird, no minimums.
