When submitting a modern US mint coin to a TPG do you send the original packaging materials (box, cert of auth) along with the coin or just the coin? If sent in, does the TPG return them with the coin?

What happens to the surplus boxs, cert of auth from graded coins that are now in slabs?

Thanksz for the answers, bob

What exactly do you want to send? Most TPG only want the coin. I know NGC will accept coins in mint packaging though. I highly doubt they would want any COA or other documentation unless to prove some sort rare/new variety or some other certification such as "shipwreck" status.

PCGS' faq specifically states not to send COAs and stuff. They will not return them if you do.

Some people sell the boxes and COAs' on ebay. Some people buy them if they just have the coin and want the box & COA. They don't go for much though.

In most cases if you send the box and COA to the TPG you will NOT get them back. The TPG will discard them.
