Hi. I'm hoping some nice person will jump in with a nice overlay again. I'm not understanding the clash shapes if they're supposed to be be reflecting the opposite sides images.

I'm sorry to say my scanner and scanning doesn't seem to be giving you all really good images here, lots of detail isn't showing in these scans.

Theres a super strong full chin and neck die clash shape CLEARLY running from the leaf right down through the 7 of the date, plus a number of other clash marks below the leaves areas. To the right of the branches looks zig-zag shapes.

Also lots of clash lines on the obverse around the front neck/chin area and outwards from there. There are two small sharp 'V's or triangles poking out from the neck, plus indications of shapes scattered in the fields, plus ON the neck, of the obverse.

Don't know how much you all can "see". This is one of the most interesting and stronger clashes, and multiple spots, that I've found so far.

I do see the clash by the date, I would call it a hanging 97. Nice find. If your having trouble with scanning maybe it's time to get a usb digital microscope?

By the sounds of that I think I'd love a toy like that Not in this kids budget though. In due time though, I'm sure.

PS: recently we had a discussion, can't recall the thread though, about similar die clash between the leaf and the date and the shape looked exactly like the Queen's chin and neck slopes, not like the actual shapes of any of the numbers.

I think in the case of the coin I posted here, it's Elizabeth's shape. I have seen images online of clashes that really looked like the actual shapings of the numbers too though.

Thanks guys. I'll continue to play around with scanning angles, brightness and contrast to see if I can "catch" more of the clash areas. Will also use my new 10x loupe of course

Meanwhile, just finished rolling up pennies to return and now I see what $25 of penny rolls looks like. And how much it WEIGHS!! My returns have been building. Too bad I can exchange for new rolls today as its cat food and litter funds today
