maxentius, a VERY nice image although it could have been a bit larger. The 1889 (P) is noted for its wide variety of strike quality ranging from very weak to very sharp. This is, I believe on the weak side as evidenced by the lack of detail in Liberty's hair over her ear and forehead and by the same in the Eagle's breast. That it is uncirculated I have little doubt given its high luster and lack of any circulation marks. However, I don't think the top grading services would treat it very kindly due to its high mintage (21.7 million) and variation in strike quality. I think your MS-62 is right on the mark. If it had been a sharper strike with the same lack of bag marks, I think it would go to MS-65, maybe higher.

Are you gonna get it graded? If not, you might consider getting it into an encapsulation of some sort just for its protection if you haven't done so already.

A very nice Morgan!

Thank you Fred.
I would have wished to post a larger image, but the uploading system doesn't accept images heavier than 100 KB.

The workaground for that is to make a larger image by resolution, say 640x480 or 800x600 pixels, then compress the image down to less than 100kb. It also depends on your image editing software and digital camera type. I use GraphicConverter, an inexpensive image editing software written for both Macs (which I use) and Windows. I also recently purchased a Canon S2 IS with which I'm still practicing on coin images so that I can upload them directly off the camera.

Good luck!

Fred
