Taking a shot in the dark here if any one may know what one hallmark is on this brooch that is housing this coin..The coin is a 1872 - 1897 tvkar Oscar 11 sveriges. The brooch is Swedish, hall mark U6 for 1898, G with a crown for Goteborg, and what looks like PAP. I believe this could be a makers mark..Can any one help with this mark as I can not find any thing close to PAP for hall marks.Thanks..

I think you'll find that "TVA KR." means "Two Kronor" (singular - Krona).
1897 was Oscar II's 25th Anniversary as King.
That's a beautiful coin, and I've never seen a mount like that one.
It appears to me that it might have been a brooch at some time.

Peter once again thanks for the information....the coin has aged nicely with natural patina. The brooch was made in 1898 so the coin was one year old when placed in it. The brooch is missing the pin on the back other wise it has the same patina as the coin..It is a bit of a fancy brooch in that the coin can swival around...If only I could find out the maker...

I have found the following information on Swedish assay marks

The G stands for the town where the item was made Goteborg

The 06 is the date letter equivalent to 1892

As far as the makers mark is concerned it seems to say PAP I have found a reference to makers marks in Sweden which shows marks only from 1913. However there is a P.A.Petterson from Goteborg who used the mark PAP so it is likely that this is the one.

Hope this helps

Angielczyk...That is awesome...

Thank you for finding P.A. Petterson as the maker as that now completes the info I needed on the brooch...
Rest in Peace

Looks like U6 to me, is that a possibility?

On closer examination I think that you are right it is U6. U6 is 1898.
