This 1973 cent looked and felt different when I pulled it. I have compared it to other 1973 cents and it seems the beads are slightly smaller and the legend is struck flat compared to larger beads on other 1973 cents and embossed legends and the Queens ear is full on the embossed one and non-connecting with no inner definition on the flat legend one. Harder planchet/weaker strike?
Can someone enlighten me? Thanks.

-thatkanuckyguy-IMO I think there is no difference in the beads.
---I think the strike might be a little off and think only wear has flattened the beads more on one than the other making them appear larger.
---If you look at all the beads they are varied in size, looks like to me! I have seen this before.
---The wear has an effect that tricks you in thinking differences! ---That brings me to the ear. Interesting! but hard to say with photo. The coins condition plays hard on it.
---I think though it might just be some Post Mint Damage that almost fits with the ear interestingly?
---Can you post a closer pic?

Scanned at 9600dpi, more than likely it is PMD but opinion is always a good thing :)

-thatcanukyguy-Wow! now that's a nice scan, but sorry, as I thought I will say confirmed PMD.
---It's funny how an illusion, in this case a scratch can make you see things differently!
---Helps with a good scanner or is that a microscope? to confirm it.
I wish I had that good!

Thanks commoncents13! It is just an Epson Stylus cx4200. The software with it is quite good when you use 'professional' mode. Just starting to get the hang of scanning now. Different angle placement for lighting etc etc. A cent at that DPI would be like a 200mb file, so I zoom it in within the scanner software and scan the area I would like at that DPI then just save it as a JPG. I am going to try just going full tilt and then using something like Photoshop etc to sharpen and zoom the scans as I am sure the image quality will be far better.
USB microscope is what I will get next. Just doing some saving :)
