Hey guys! Long time no post!

Finally getting back to a few Morgans that I back-burnered because I just couldn't figure them out.

I think I have this one figured out, it really gave me a run for my money. It has so many gouges in it that I wasn't sure if this was a broken "R" variety or not. Although I'm not seeing the die scratch/gouge in the hair curls. Sorry, I forgot to rotate the picture.

Anyway, I hope the pics are also good enough to grade from. Am I in the ballpark with AU50?

What actually causes the toothmark gouges on these coins? I see a lot of them "W" shaped also on a bag of Kennedy's I bought from the mint. So, that would make them mint-post-mint, right?

Scooby,

I can't get to VAMWorld right now to confirm your attribution, but I can confirm it's a broken 'r' (VAM's 160-189). Those "toothmark" impressions are from denticles or another coin in contact with this one and under pressure. They are post-mint but normally considered as "bag marks".

Thanks SeatedNut. I would not have guessed denticles would do that much damage. That's pretty extreme.

Anyway, have I not provided enough pics or details to attribute this one?
