This coin is not in the best of shape, but it was passed down to me. Any guess as to the value in its state? I've learned that the 1928 coins are more valuable without the mint mark, but I'm sure it will be affected more by condition.

The 1928 is the key coin to the Peace dollar set. Yours has seen some circulation and has some scratches. I would say it is in VF condition. The 1928 is the only peace I do not have.
Rest in Peace

A great coin to own in any condition,
this one probably squeeks in at XF 40

You've got the issue right, her condition. That's the girl with all the candy, though, so we turn our heads a little bit. Off these pics, I'll net her at low to mid-VF.
Rest in Peace

Nice coin! If genuine definitely valuable! It doesn't look cleaned to me, though maybe an old dip. I'd say VF-35

I would call it VF30-35 details because of the scratches on the obverse.
