It's a jewellery imitation of an Ottoman gold coin - presumably it originally had a gilt wash. If you do a forum search for "imitation Ottoman" you'll find several people with similar coins, though typically with a brassy rather than coppery appearance. This example is somewhat cruder than yours, with an impossibly fictitious date 1222/78 - the one you posted has the somewhat more realistic 1223/28.
