I'm new to the board. This message did not accompany the image.

The variety is undocumented, even in the Amaya book. Duane Douglas had one in an auction a couple years ago. What do you think NGC would do with it?

From past experience, If *I* sent this coin to NGC, those ________ would more than likely body bag it (I don't think they like me)...
Being serious now, does this coin have a value that it would justify the certification fees charged by the TPG...

I'm intrigued by this coin, but I cannot see enough detail from the photo to comment on it.

This is a scan. I'll try to post a decent photo in the next few days.

I think I see it now...the bottoms of the 1 have that angled stroke usually seen at top?
That's pretty cool--I have looked at many dates on 20th C. Mexican coins and never saw that one.

Getting it certified is a strategy thing. Right now, few people know these exist. Once it shows up on the pop report more people will want it, and the price will go up. I did that with a 1926/16 Mexico 10c, and now folks are looking for one. This is much more cool than the 10c.

That one is listed in my Krause too--it gives a good premium! If you have a pic of the overdate, post it.

Success at NGC! NGC encapulated this coin as a 1916M 50C inverted and corrected 1 MS 62.

Even better, they opened a slot in the compeditive registry for it.

I will be very interested to see if any others show up. Only aware of one other in vf-ef.

I just got another inverted and corrected 1 off the Bay!

The lower serifs were not really clear in the posted photo, but the price was fair for a regular 1916. In hand the inverted 1s are unmistakable. Under magnification they really pop.

Do not think it will grade MS, but then did not think the first coin was MS.

Has anyone else seen this coin (outside of the forum)? I thought there were less than 50 of these around but now not so sure.
