liveandievaarieties, If you take a look at my 1993 DDO post will find two pictures at the bottom of the page. The obverse turned out to be Struck Through Grease. Foundinrolls thought that the reverse was doubled too. Take a look.

I'm not going to look at anything now. If you're going to learn, it's only going to happen one way. Tuck away concerns about what might be. Absorb what IS. Learn from the factual posts, not the opinionated threads that people quarrel. That won't teach you anything. Relax, learn, cherrypick. Repeat. Then come back in a few weeks and WOW us, you'll come up with something really good. I'm kind of expecting it now. Don't make me look silly.....

I'm not funny. I'm serious. If you don't want to learn, I don't want to read your garble. If you want to expand your knowledge and understanding, get some perspective and learn what you're searching for, I want to be your friend and help you. I want you to have the amazement that I do in respect to our hobby, complete awe, every day. But you're just giddy right now, and you're going to get mad and frustrated unless you learn how the world of die varieties work.

I can't be serious enough- my time is valuable to me, and to my family. I've spent several hours today on this and another member in the same boat. Time is money, and I don't work cheap. If you waste my time, I've got nothing else to say.
I look forward to seeing you grow Lucleus.

Ain't a single person here who was born knowing all there is to know about coins. It may seam like some of the folks here were born that way, but truth is you have to educate yourself as much as possible with literature, this forum, other collectors, etc. basically any form of media. Their are countless books on all the aspects of coins out there. No-one here knows it all, that's why even the ones that appear to know it all read and educate themselves. Great advice you have given Liveanddie. WOLF

Thanks Wolf. I should have recalled that you'd make as good an example as anyone. You cherrypicked a 1992-D Wide AM. One sold barely a week ago for $4,100. We haven't interacted personally, emailed or any kind of communication beyond respecting each other's forum posts. I'm going to make some assumptions though. You spot pick for certain dates- I doubt you look at every single coin with a 100X loupe on all 3 sides. You own more than one reference book and utilize online resources as learning tools. You ask questions and appreciate answers from people who can give factual information, opinions on damage aren't your suit. Your knowledge has increased for having spent time on this forum. Tell me if I didn't get at least all of those right- These are a few of the habits of a Die Hard, sorry for the pun. Much respect to you Wolf.

Don't take it personal lucleus. Liveandie isn't just talking to you, he's talking to EVERYBODY.
Nothing will ever be better than experience and good reading material. If you're really going to explore the world of errors and varieties there is so much more to learn. I feel like I've learned a lot here, but mostly, I've learned that I still have a lot to learn!
You have to take your knowledge to a new level and know the minting process and what can go wrong. The average collector just wants as fine as an example of every year and mintmark they can get and could care less about varieties and such, and there's nothing wrong with that. I do, too. But, you have to take it beyond just being able to grade for your album.

Liveandievaieties gives sound advice and has my respect. I will expand my knowledge. But at the same time I'm still going to post here for more education and fun. I've learned alot already. Thanks to everyone.
