I've had this coin in an album for 40 years and just took a close look at it today. Is this an S/S If so, is it a recognized variety?

Yes. FS-501. You can find the FS-501 on page 65 of the CherryPickers' Guide.

Nice find.

Here is an image of one of mine.

Thanks arsave. Funny how I just really looked at it after having it all these years. I've got to get the CP guide. My coin is circulated pretty good. What value does the guide put on it ?

Numismo. I think if you do a search on ebay, you might be able to compare some of the 1941-S/S with your coin.

Can you post an image of the whole coin?

OK arsave. Here's the whole coin and a better scan of the mm.

The CPG says $8.00, but most likely in the $20.00 range for a raw Fine-12 coin. Nice find.

OK arsave, thanks again for the info. I've got to get the CP guide and check my other long held items. I know cents and nickels pretty well, but my info about other denominations is lacking.
