... Nothin' gets me more mad than people that can't even read the description... But I guess if they're that lazy(IMO), they kinda deserve it...

I'm curious to see if his 99.5% Feedback rating takes a dent. Then again for the seller, he did post reproduction or copy and all bidders had ample time to ask questions etc. I personally don't care to see the words reproduction or copy in any item description.

So that seller is basically tricking (the less intelligent, lol) public, hence the 300 dollar plus FAKE Lincoln Wheat penny. Oh well, his one sentence clearly states he thinks it is fake, perhaps the bidders disagree for some reason, lol.... Another fine example of what really ticks me off about humans and their never ending journey to find an angle for an easy buck even though this particular seller is really not guilty of anything more than selling something fake, not against the law by the way unfortunately. Forget considering the karma factor or anything else. Confusing fake, copy, red tape human bs, makes me so mad! You really have to fine tune the wording in your searches for like a pure gold coin, or a solid piece of .9999 fine silver. I don't care about plated metal, or an exact replica gold bar, what a waste of my time and the rest of the world's time as well....

The people that are bidding may be intending to pass it off as real, hence the higher bids. This is why these listings need to be reported instead of just griped about.

In the sellers defense, everyone is out to make money. I know sure as heck I don't intentionally try losing it.
On the other hand, there are much more ethical ways of doing it.
He did clearly state in two very short sentences he doesn't believe it's real.Unlike 90% of the other corporate sellers who try to do the small print BS thing and add 100 sentence and you have to dig through and find it....
I say bad on the buyers part if they can't take them time to read two little sentences.I know I surely wouldn't buy anything for 300 bones without reading EVERYTHING!

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Hobby Protection Act prohibit the sale of such items regardless of whether they're claimed to be real or fake? If it is not real, and lacks "COPY" on the coin itself, it is in violation, is it not?

Add to that....the coin was correctly posted in the Replicas & Reproductions section. Makes me want to post my fake one there, $300 for a fake and mines probably better than that one.

I still believe the seller was being sneaky. He should have stated in the heading that the coin was a fake. He also left a door open by casting slight doubt in the description.

LOL- Everyone's been screaming "buy silver, buy gold" and all the while we should have been stocking up on fake currency!

I think fake should have been in the heading too, but the buyer should have read the whole decription before bidding. The pictures were awful.

Look out for that one to return to ebay and be sold as real. "I know nothing about coins, found in grampa's drawer blah, blah, blah"

ebay encourages this. Buy it. If it's genuine, you make out like a phat ratt. If not, ebay buyer protection refunds your money. Title to counterfeits can't pass, no expiration date on guarantee. HPA requires incuse copy, but I see copies with copy in raised letters. Side peeve: was that a coin or a moon rock? There are fuzzy images, and there are "no excuse for that" images.

This is like the 1000 Morgan and Peace dollars for $400 per hundred that someone posted about. Even if ebay honors a $4000 refund to the woman who ordered them all, someone still got $4000 for nothing.

Absolutely unbelievable! That much for a posted fake. Real or not how could anyone bid with the lousy (planned) pictures? Since the seller posted an accurate description of the item, too bad for the buyer (and what's he gonna do with it anyway except try to double his money passing it off as legit.) IMHO !
