Help 1910 5 Cent Variety - Coin Community Forum

parkay Valued Member Canada 287 Posts	Posted 03/27/2011 6:19 pm I would like some help with determining what the variety of this five cents. Charlton's lists a Maple Leaf (round) or a Holley leaf (pointed). They look like to round leaves to me or is this just wear that makes them look round? thatcanuckyguy Valued Member Canada 166 Posts	Posted 03/27/2011 6:49 pm I'm going to say pointed due to some of the leafs retaining very sharp pointed edges. It's easy to round and edge from wear, not so easy to wear them into points. Report this Post to the Staff

Ugly Pillar of the Community Canada 1733 Posts	Posted 03/27/2011 11:29 pm It's hard to tell on well worn examples because your mind plays tricks on you, though I can't make out the bow, up near the crown the leaves are more protected from wear and seem to be of the rounded variety. Close up of the bow or scan of same would nail it. Report this Post to the Staff

If you look at the first leaf at the bottom right, it has more of an inside curve on the bottom side (roundness) compared to the holy (pointed) same leaf with more of a straight line. ---Reference Charlton, to compare! You must really stand by your name<-- see they just don't stop laughing! ---I like a person with a sense of humor and shots straight! Your there on both! ---Regarding the bow tie question? Were both right! ---I thought you wanted the big obvious bow tie at the bottom? ---I use the leaves at the bottom because they live longer! ---Thanks to -Ikandiggit- He proves my point with his Add on. Intentionally or not just like Superman swoops in for a save! ---OK ill give it to ya! and I can dig it ---His crown ornament is pretty much gone and I can say with relative certainty, without it! ---Holly (Pointed) for his, from the first leaf on the bottom right!
