Hello,
There is a fascinating lot on e-bay labeled listed as:
"1949~RARE FIND~HIGH GRADE~CANADA DOLLARS~ROLL-20 PIECES
ULTIMATE COLLECTORS DREAM MS-68 TO ?TAKE A LOOK Item number: 160037076950"

It has been up for auction several times with a starting price of $20K US. There has never been a bid because the best 20 certified (PCGS or ICCS) 1949 Canadian dollars in the world might bring $7K-8K for all together if sold INDIVIDUALLY at auction, meaning this roll is worth $5K-6K at an absolute maximum. I am interested in this roll, probably one of the few people in the world that would be. I am not particularly good with people......how can I nicely tell this fellow he is going to own these forever if he doesn't get real?

Thanks

under the button that say's "Buy It Now" is another button that says "Make an Offer" just make him an offer on what you would willingly spend on the lot and he will either accept, decline,or make a counter offer to you. That is how I would handle the situation
Rest in Peace

Steve, first, welcome to the forum! Lotsa friendly people here and just loaded with knowledge.

Here's the URL to save on a search: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...160037076950 . I think Bryan has the right idea. If you're seriously interested in these coins, make an offer for what you consider reasonable, then open negotiations by sending him an email explaining the true value of the coins, e.g. with previous sales, price guide estimates, etc. Worse he can do is tell you to take a hike.

My friend had a situation like that with UK person
She laughed at his best offer and went on offering and offering
In the end she gave up and started an auction from 1 pound on
My friend bought the coin for less then his best offer 4 weeks before

Some people will put a coin on ebay a dozen times before they learn
and then accept less then they could have got before the intrested parties moved on

Hi Steve, there's nothing I can add to the excellent advice you received above...All I can say is GOOD LUCK, and if you are successful I'd be extremely interested in ONE of the dollars...the roll is way beyond my reach!!

All the best,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

I collected US coins for years until I recently moved to Canada. you would be stunned by how reasonable coins are here, by US standards. I got a PCGS PL66 1949 dollar that is blast white with deep mirrors for $185US last week from an online shop in California. There are about 20 PL67s in existence. There is one in a Toronto auction in a few weeks. I bet $450US will take it!!!

Thank (all of you) for the advice. I'll give it another try.
