I used a coupler and put one wide open lens backwards to a 300mm adjustable zoom. Makes awesome shots, I'll post pics when I get the chance tonight

Post some photos... I've tried this before, and it can be incredible at magnifying the image. You just want to make sure that you aren't smashing your reversed lens into anything.

ALSO your Depth of Field goes way down to hardly anything. I'd love to see what it does for coin photos though.

My friend has a setup where h uses a revers ring with macro tubes. He uses it to study flower buds though, not sure if thats overkill for coins :P

Here are my photos. I have a Canon Rebel Xsi, first lenses are 70-300mm with a 52-58mm coupler. Backward lens is a 50mm.

Then pulled the 300mm off and tried it with the 18-55mm with 50mm attached backwards:

I'm realizing now I should have pulled the coin out of the flip so I didn't get the 'misty' look from the mylar cover. But you get the picture
