Hi Gang,

Something happend last night after I gave my talk on coin collecting to a parent-child group that was kind of funny. It really how perspective can change a whole society.

After give my presentation a little girl came up to look at the coins I had on display. She eyeballed a 1950-D Franklin half dollar that was a Blast White MS-65. She asked "what is the date on that coin." I responded with the date and took the coin out of the case and handed it to the little girl (coin was well protected). She very carefully looked at the coin and handed it back. She talked with a little friend, who walked up to her during the discussion, for a minute. The she said I don't want to collect coins that old. Do you have any that was made during the Roman times?
I almost died laughing (to myself)I was born 3 years before the coin was minted...!

Great story! There's a potential ancient/darkside collector!

I think the ancient coins capture a child's imagination more because of the biblical stories they've heard. I showed my boys some widow's mites and they were in complete awe at the idea that these were circulating around the time of Jesus. It is kind of staggering when you think about it.

I am not sure but I think Catman was circulating around the same time? He is the only guy I know that ever rode a dinosaur or was that GDJMSP? None the less, what a great story!

That's an interesting twist Catman. I can just imagine in 2010 kids chasing after the Jefferson/Buffalo nickels because "they are like five years old..."
