great idea to use a light on the side of the coin rather then a flash, which completely blurs the coin out
I am not good by any means at picture taking but there is a forum if you scroll down the "all forums" list that is dedicated just to photographing coins

your pictures look pretty good. Maybe just mess with the macro. I wouldn;t change a thing though.

That's a nice Wheatie and giving every benefit of the doubt to the 2006 off those pictures, that's a BU 2006. Keep searching, you'll get the hang of it. Besides that, you'll have a lot of fun.

eric273, there is a section specifically for coin photography on the forum.You'll find plenty of help there when it comes to pics.

Definitely better ways...

Check out the photography section there are some decent tutorials and posts there.

Use a desk lamp or such and light from the side, then grab a tripod and try to shoot straight down onto the coin. Nice attempts though!
