I'm looking for information on a 1971 USPS token (for lack of better term). The token is around the size of a Morgan dollar, bronze in color and has the USPS eagle logo on the front. The back shows the world and says "Bringing the World To America's Doorstep". Any information or direction to info is appreciated.

It is commemorating the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970. It abolished the US Post Office Department which was part of the cabinet and created the US Postal Service. The act took effect on July 1, 1971.

Thanks! Any idea how these were distributed? Were they made for employees or sold/given to the public?

I have 3 of these. One appears to be silver. Is there any value in these tokens?

The bronze/brass tokens are listed for a few bucks on ebay. The silver version, framed with two stamps and produced by the Franklin Mint, are listed in the 30-50 dollar range.

Thanks nfine for the information
My dad worked for the Post Office, and I assume he got these tokens through the Post Office, or through an ad that came to him because he was associated with the P.O.

Just for accuracy's sake...

This piece is a medal not a token. It never had a monetary value and/or was never used as a money substitute. It is a commemorative medal.
