Heres an odd die clash I just found. The reason this one is odd because of the location of the clash. It doesn't match up at all. I made my list larger for the DDOs and DDRs. I had a list of certain ones I was looking for. If I'm right I should find 5 or more DDOs or DDRs per box. So I'm going back through the change I have before I dump them. I do have one question for Coppercoins or any other expert that could answer this question for me. How is it that some letters and numbers are considered double dies when they are just fatter appearances with no splitting what so ever? Thats one thing I never understood about double dies. Because I always thought there had to be some splitting somewhere to even be considered double dies.

I enjoy keeping up with this thread. It's fun and interesting. Great idea 1913-V. Thank you for sharing your findings. I am also interested is the question you asked Coppercoins regarding thick and fat doubling.

You may want to study up a little on the classes of doubled dies. I have have way too much to learn to be trying to spit out answers to your questions, but I have a much better idea after studying them a little. The different classes explain why doubling occurs in certain areas and directions on coins.
The class that (I believe) answers your question the best is class VI (not class 6), distended hub doubling.

Okay I went through 1000 cents and found another 1983 Cud. This one is different than the last one I found. Ill take pics later. I'm not doing so good finding any die varieties. I also looked through 5 rolls of quarters and nothing. I picked up a box of cents today and might pick up a box of nickels later.
