lewis, I would recommend sorting the coins into two groups, those graded by PCGS and NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation) in one group and the rest in another group. PCGS and NGC are the two most trusted third party grading services. Doesn't mean they are always right on their grading but they are heads above the others. The non PCGS and NGC slabbed coins you can upload pictures to your file hosting service so the people on this forum can help you with the confirming the grades of them.

In the PCGS / NGC pile you can post a list of the coins and their grades here so members can give an idea of an approximate retail value so you know what you have there. For example PCGS $1 1887-S MS-65 or NGC $1 1883-CC MS-63.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the tips, tax season is almost over so hopfully things will die down so I can tend to this. Sorry for going mia. ;)

Right now sorting it is the challange, some of the coins have been graded / priced with a post-it on the back. I'd like to get an inventory of everything, then maybe get a few quotes on the pricey ones from some coin shops and on-line. Any suggestions for coin shops in the Chandler / Mesa Arizona area?

I would have a hay day goign through that. You best bet is post pictures on here and or going to a dealer and asking him for an estimate for insurance purposes. That way he doesn;t give you an estimate and then try to buy the collection.
