Sitting here this morning going thru the forum, drinking that much needed cup of coffee and noticed I've rambled on to a 100 posts. Just want to express a heart felt "THANKS" to all those who have had to endure these rants & raves. Meaningless die cracks, mundane Cuds and certainly bad pictures. Not once did I get a reply " Hey we're way past that dude, come back when you catch up" THANKS again all

stmpcol - the only foolish question is the one not asked.

I remember when I was only about 7 or 8 years old and I started to ask about coins - I didn't get a negative response from anyone. My very first question was to my grandfather. I had gotten an 1894 Barber quarter as a prize and I asked him why was this picture on the coin? He then proceeded to spin one of his famous tales of the "old days" when all sorts of things were in circulation. He painted a word picture of strange coins that I will never forget. To complete the story he finally pulled out a small box (a junk box actually) in which he kept a few oddities. That explaination and looking at those dozen or so oddities has led to my life long love/obsession with coins.

I am just glad that I spoke to a series of people who loved coins and loved sharing their knowledge about coins. It would have been far different if I had run into a dealer/investor who was interested only in making a buck.

I am trying to pass on my grandfather's attitude towards the hobby.

Thank God for Grandfathers! I firmly believe this and wish that all of us can have the opportunity to repay those who have helped us to where we are today.

I never knew my Grandfather, but my Grandmother used to always show me these really strange " Half Dimes" that she save through the years. She started my personal collection with a handful of steel pennies. I was hooked!
