On my Camera if you zoom in even a little ( Canon SX30 IS 35x Optical Zoom) It completely blurs a picture of a coin. So I bought a Macro Lens FIlter Set With a 1x 2 x 4 x nd 10 x that you can combine if you want to. I do not see much difference. I am using a lamp and a white towel to shoot on.

With 10x Macro Filter

How large are the originals, eric273? They do look similar - pretty nicely-focused, decent contrast, a little off on white balance but there's a dozen ways to correct that. I can't help but suspect that these aren't original size, though.

As I said in your other thread, never use the zoom. It artificially forces the lens "closer" to the coin, beyond its' ability to focus. Are you using the camera's largest size setting?
