I have a Spanish coin from the early-mid 1490's, but I don't know of any way to assign it to a specific year. Coins such as this can be dated by monarch, and sometimes by mintmasters' initials. Pieces with imprinted dates prior to 1500 are few and far between. Perhaps we should be allowed to post such undated pieces for reference? The modern era we live in puts so much emphasis on specific, individual years. Time surely passed much differently in the late middle ages.

We could, but it is not the spirit of this thread. The topic in the 'Ancient, Greek, Roman, and Medieval Coins' forum accounted for the inability to pinpoint years. It started at 1600 and worked back from there by decade instead of year... https://goccf.com/t/195985It seems to have stalled in the 940's. Perhaps it needs a second edition?

Still looking for 1494 The second edition is closing in. When it reaches this date I think I will end this one since it would be a duplicate thread.

This thread is not dead yet.
I might have just purchased a 1494. I might have not paid too much for it. It might be here in a month.

My draft of 1942 is getting very old in the mean time. I wil have to take of the dust before posting it

Well, keep in mind that we also need a 1493 to make an appearance. This is getting exciting! Will we see 1494 before the Second Edition sees 1501?

The group the coin is in was shipped on 11/30.
The waiting is the hardest part...

Ok, not the prettiest coin, but here we are. It showed up today in the mail, taking almost two weeks on a trip from Europe. 1494 Brule Jean de Hornes Liege This is a one-year type coin, struck at the Hasselt mint. The date would be on the reverse above the U-shaped horn at the upper left of the reverse. Unfortuntely, this part of the coin is mostly cut off. On the obverse: The arms of Jean de Hornes (three U-shaped horns) atop the shields of Bouillon (on the left) and Loon (on the right). On the reverse: Ornate long cross alternating horns and lions in the quardrants. Details for this coin can be found on the website duiten.nl:
