There are two nice ones on vcoins.com, about the same price but they an't exactly giving them away. (Both about $75)
I found three coins dated 1527 for sale on ma-shops. One is an "Nördlingen, Reichsmünzstätte 1/2 Batzen 1527 sehr schön" but the date isn't clear...but it is listed at a reasonable price. The other is a "Polen Krongroschen 1527 Sehr schön Sigismund I." and the date is clear as day, but the price is double (30 Euro). There is also a "Nördlingen Karl V. 1/2 Batzen 1527 ss Prägeschwäche" (35 Euro)

Just in case it ever gets there, I now have an 1521  If I'm lucky I might even get an 1517 soon as well (I didn't buy it the last time because I was running out of money and it cost almost $17, but I don't see any reason for anyone else to buy it in the meantime). Now, 1527 anyone? We're now only 10 years behind the other thread (and it was started years earlier)... I wonder if we eventually get ahead! |

Ok, ok! I'll step up!! 1527 1/2 Batzen from Nördlingen, (small town in South Bavaria). ( ebay seller's pictures)   Minted during the reign of Eberhard IV von Eppstein-Königstein, who reigned from 1503-1535. The portrait is of Karl/Carl V who ruled Germany(?) from 1519 until he abdicated 1558. (The info above is the best I could glean from a few different sources. If wrong, or anyone has additional information, please feel free to add/correct). |

Wasn't really a Germany in 1527, just a Holy Roman Empire. Karl V was Emperor until 1558 (son of Philip the Handsome and Joanna the Mad!)

Do you ever feel like ebay sellers are watching this thread thinking, "Hmmm, the are on 1526. Let me put that as an item number on my Morgan/Mercury/Buffalo listing and MAYBE they will pull the trigger..." Yes, I am trolling ebay...no, don't get your hopes up.... |

Well, if that's the case...you are in good company and yes, I have been doing the same thing and do I ever wish the old wild card was back (the * symbol), that way I could remove all the JUNK from my search results.
Oh well.
