I wanted to verify the authenticity of a coin after reading this. https://goccf.com/t/86004 So I was wondering if anyone had cracked an ICCS slab and then weighed it? I`m kind of afraid to do this with mine because then it`s just a coin without the grade. Help?

On the contrary, did you buy the coin, or the holder? Remember, a grade is merely an opinion (especially with ICCS). Your coin, if a fantastic grade, will still be a fantastic coin. Why not buy a cheap ICCS coin on ebay, then cut it open so you can weigh the holder?

Why do you suspect the coin is a fake?

You don't have to cut the holder. find a similar coin (could be different date) on the scale weight it if you have a electric scale just re-zero then weight your graded coin.

That is what I will do also, but it is better to get a MS coin since worn coins lose some weight from original ones.

Many fakes are the correct weight.

Can't a guy be curious? What's the deal with answering a question with another question? There's a word for that.

Found one lying around intact with internal sleeve for dollar coin, weight is approximately 4.5 (slightly under that maybe 4.48 but that's splitting hairs).
