Looks to me like the A points to the small denticle.

While the denticles are short, that is not the 'A to Small Denticle' variety. The I of GRATIA should be able to easily slip between the denticles (with room to spare), if you project it outwards to the rim. Take a closer look at the image in the Charlton Standard Catalogue.

I have Charltons book in front of my eyes and it looks like small denticles and A pointing. I am comparing the space also between the two different sized denticles. Niiiccce coin.

This is the small denticles variety. Check out the spacing between the denticles, not the length of the denticles.
