Today a mate of mine came up and presented me with three coins from Belgium
1929
1942
1944

each of these coins is a holed coin
but the shape was a bit strange
Each coin was concave or convex depending on how you looked at it.

He then proceeded to tell me he was re-upholstering a chair and when he took off the covering
What did he find, but these three coins being used as washers to hold the chair together. The pressure of the screws caused the misshaping of the coins.

Now I something else to donate to my Grandson's collection.

Many, many years ago, when I was building furniture, I would purposely place pocket change in the items that I built. Never had thought of using them as washers, but did use them as spacers etc. Guess some day someone will find them and wonder what idiot put them there. Strange things happen all the time, I guess.

Sounds like they were washers to me.

What do ya know! I have a small antique medicine cabinet that I recently got that I'm using as a table/cabinet in my hallway. It is off kilter just a tiny bit. Wow ,Old Dan, you've given me my solution!! Thanks.
