Again, I'm usually a coin guy, so having these in my collection is rare. I don't know much of the story behind these....

Last note for today is a $5 National Currency from Bank of New York. Looking for opinions on Grade, value, rarity.

Another question on this one.... I'm seeing three different numbers that all look like serial #s? Any input on what's going on with that?

The number 10778 is the bank charter number. N75184B is the serial number. I don't know what the number, 3292, at bottom left is/means. 29th edition of the Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money identifies this as Friedberg # 606, signed by Teehee and Burke.

What is going on between the legs of the "K" in Kaufman?.... it doesn't look like security fibers..... this may affect the EF/AU grade that it may otherwise receive... despite the great looks, this is a common note from a very common bank...... my guess would be about $200-$300.

The three numbers are :

10778-------National Bank charter number (for those who cannot read the bank name).

3292--------Serial number.

N75184B-----Treasury number (for control purposes at the Treasury, since 14,320 banks would all have the same serial numbers when turned in for redemption).... this number was dropped in 1925 and replaced with the serial number as in the note I have attached.

Under the 'K' is some rather large blue fibers with some smaller red fibers.

And I bet the E in with the National Bank charter number stands for East.
