Is it true that they pull valuable coins and that its pointless to roll search them? What type of rolls should I look for in terms of roll searching? How can I weed out Brinks? Edited by jarwulf 04/21/2011 04:27 am

I have not heard that before. I search rolls of Brinks cents and have found "keepers". John1

How do you purchase rolls from brinks?

When you consider the quantity of coins they process it would be clear that they can't possibly actively search them. (How would you search several hundred bags of coins a day?) The equipment will kick out any errors that are off size but cracks, Cuds, doubled dies, RPM's, silver etc will all pass right on through.

I can't find anyplace that doesn't use brinks. And they won't have brinks bring the bags instead of the boxes, which kind of sucks -- for several reasons, but mostly the fact that it's a waste for them to roll them just for me to unroll them and I'd feel less "picked over" if I got the bag I think.
But, no, Brinks doesn't take them all. I get lots of non-silver boxes from brinks, but some have lots of silver in it.

I think it is just the fact that there are more collectors now than ever before, and with silver sky rocketing and more people knowing about it, you will find less in rolls.

I have heard rumors that they use those machines which sort the silver out by weight. The first box of halves I ever got (a couple weeks ago) was rolled in paper rolls that were reddish with "brinks" written on the side of it. It had 9 90%ers and 4 40%ers in it. I was astounded. Ever since then, I've been getting these kind of brownish/greenish rolls that don't say anything on them, but are completely bereft of coins. They have some NIFC's in them, but nothing silver. Do you guys know what's up with this? Are the brown ones some customer rolled business? I'd like to get some of those reddish brinks-wrapped rolls with 200 bucks worth of silver in them :)

Anyone know what these different rolls are? I'm thinking of at least telling the bank that brinks is charging them to roll coins, that are brought in as customer rolled coins.

Strings and Sons makes the wrapper and the rolling equipment, they don't do rolling.

Wouldn't strings and son have "strings and son" printed on it somewhere like the brinks wrappers (the dollar coins wrapped by strings and son are labeled with their name).
