Hi David,

As you mentionned,I took a grading course from the CNA at the time.True that different monarks grade differently. Not that I want to start an argument but when I grade GeorgeV,first marker I look at is the crown jewels.Worn in the middle is F-12 to 15.The chain and robe bergin to blur.On the reverse, wear is seen over the entire design but nothing has been worn away.I apologise for my overgrading which should have been F-15 as DBM quoted.
If I was to sell it on the internet, this is tha grade I would advertize.Sold hundreds of coins not a single return so far.If you want to sell it as VG-8,the buyer would be pleased for sure.Con servatives grades are always appreciated by the buyers as opposed to overgraded coins.
This is just my opinion and it is worth just that.I also have all the coins in my collection TPG graded and I returned a few coins over the years which in my opinion were overgraded.

I don't consider myself an expert grader by any means, but KGV grading criteria are pretty clear.

I would defiantly grade this coin min F-12. The books that I have on grading tell me to look at the crown. Way too much detail for VG-8.

Without the coin in hand, I would grade this coin F-12 based on the images. The wear on the reverse and the ribbon on the shoulder are just about 'textbook' for a typical F-12 grade of George V cents (a series near and dear to me).
