So I am very unfamiliar with how precious metals work. on friday the prices of silver stopped and I assume it will resume on monday. what times of the day do prices close, and which days of the week?

Correct. We'll start up in about 3 hours here. Market is open Monday-Friday, except for this past one because of the holiday.

I'm not 100% sure on how it completely works but yes. I'm still learning. There are regular trading hours, after hours trading, then you have the different world markets, etc.

As you can see, it shows when our market will open and where the bid/ask prices ended on the last trading day.
Below you can see that the Asia/Europe market is open and we "should" see a nice bump up to 49 when ours opens.
